Activities & Excursions
Powdery white sand beaches, crystal clear ocean, emerald paddy field of coconut palms - the rare gem in the gulf of Thailand. Koh Samui fills with beautiful, not to be missed, neighboring islands and archipelagos.
KC Resort & Over Water Villas provides various activities for you to enjoy your stay at our resort such as Snorkel at Koh Tao, kayak at Angthong National Marine Park, party it up at Koh Pha Nagan, or go for dolphin watching tour, and visit tigers at tiger zoo.
Angthong National Marine Park Snorkeling & Kayaking Trip:
In such an idyllic setting the temptation is simply to laze peacefully on the beach and soak up a tropical sun tan. But if you want more, there are amenities for water sports, such as windsurfing and snorkeling. The coastal waters are exciting to explore and are especially rich in schools of brightly colored fish and exotic coral formations. Principal among Samui's natural sights are two picturesque waterfalls, Hin Lat and Na Muang, while on neighboring Koh Fan, connected to Samui by a causeway, is Wat Hin Ngu temple and meditation centre.
Koh Pha Ngan
Koh Pha Ngan has long been “the” holiday destination for backpackers and ravers from all over the world, who gather every month on the island to celebrate the Full Moon on Haad Rin Beach.
However, for those travelers looking for tranquil and virgin surroundings, the island also has plenty of quieter and undeveloped spots that will remind you of Koh Samui as it was fifteen years ago...
Koh Pha Ngan is the closest major island to Koh Samui, and can be clearly seen from our resort, it is the large island to the north, easily seen from our roof-top.
Probably the best way to experience the island, and what it has to offer, is by taking a Full or Half Day Speedboat tour that travels around the island stopping off at the best snorkeling spots, quiet idyllic soft sandy beaches for lunch and swimming and an opportunity to visit a waterfall.
Koh Tao
The sleepy little islands of Koh Tao (Turtle Island) and Koh Nang Yuan, located approximately 55 kilometers north of Koh Samui, have exploded as a diving destination over the past few years. Although populated for some time, previously the only form of income for the islanders was the harvesting of coconuts and light fishing. One of the best things about diving around these two small islands is the fact that the dive sites unlike Phuket's and Samui's, are only minutes away, including Koh Nang Yuan, which is only a short hop from Koh Tao. There are over 30 dives sites charted in the area. Sites range from deep water pinnacles to shallow coral gardens, to rocky points complete with swim-throughs. Although water clarity can sometimes be limited, frequently the water becomes as transparent as the Andaman Sea with visibility over 30 meters. Again, this may not be typical, but when the water gets like this, watch out, the diving gets truly exciting!
Koh Tao is one of those places where you have to expect the unexpected. Many people have reported absolutely world-class dives in the area over a period of a few days to a few months. Chumphon Pinnacle, probably the best pinnacle dive site in the gulf has been known to attract whale sharks, mantas, huge schools of lack fish, great barracudas, mackerels, bad fish, swordfish, and even fin back whales. You can also see big 1-1, 5 meter groupers any time.
Although he's not nearly as large as a whale shark, Koh Tao has a resident fish with an ego the size of any whale; Trevor, "The Terrible Trigger" resides at White Rock off Koh Nang Yuan and what he lacks in size he more than makes up for in belligerence.
Trigger fish are known to be hostile around mating season, and they rigorously defend their nests, but Trevor just doesn't seem to like anyone no matter what time of year it is. Koh Tao offers the best diving in the Gulf of Thailand and combined with the pleasantries of shore life, it is well worth a visit. You may not see whale sharks or swordfish every dive, but you'll certainly be more than charmed by the local inhabitants of the reefs.
Many different hard corals, soft and wipp corals, turtles, blue spotted and yenkin rays, big puffer fish, slugs, prawns, shrimps, sea and feather stars as well as the many colored coral fish fill every diver with enthusiasm. Koh Tao has also some really interesting swim-throughs at Nang Yuan, Leam Thian and Hin Wong Bay as well as Green Rock. These are suitable for beginner and advanced divers. Visit beautiful Koh Tao with us and you can expect an unforgettable adventure.
Angthong National Marine Park
Covering over 100 square kilometers in the Gulf of Thailand is Angthong National Marine Park, an archipelago of more than 40 islands. Angthong (Golden Basin) was declared a national marine
Sanctuary in 1980 and its well-preserved condition, perhaps ironically, owes much to the fact that the area is also a training base for the Royal Thai Navy.
Against the backdrop of hills, the beaches of Koh Samui stand out with their palm-fringed beaches, and strands of fine sand. The best spots are Chaweng and Lamai. Both are on the east coast where each day greets you with a spectacular sunrise.
Shaped By Time
Dominating much of the scenery are hundreds of limestone monoliths, carved into remarkable shapes by years of erosion. Closer inspection of the rocks reveals a rhino, a seal, a Buddha image, and even a rough likeness of the elegant Queen Nefertiti! These islands are largely uninhabited and covered by dense rainforests on the upper slopes and thick vegetation below.
Animals and Birds
The Gulf is a major breeding ground for the short-bodied mackerel, a staple in the Thai diet. Dolphins, often hunted for their meat, wisely avoid human contact. Common land animals include squirrels, pythons, monitors, sea otters, leopard cats, wild boars and dusky langurs, which are unusually friendly. Among 40 confirmed bird species are little herons, black bazas, Eurasian woodcocks, kingfishers, wagtails and swifts - the nests of which are considered a delicacy.
Inner Sea
The island of Koh Mae Koh has a closed lagoon called Thale Nai (Inner Sea), surrounded by overhanging cliffs, thick with vegetation, and connected to the open sea only by an underground cave. This secluded lake is accessible via a path that leads through natural rock tunnels to the rim of the cliff wall. From here, there are stunning views of the archipelago and the turquoise waters below. The peace and quiet of the area confers a sense of isolation, disturbed only by occasional birdcalls and the flap of wings.
Waving Lotuses
A 15-minute ferry ride away is Koh Wua Talap (Sleeping Cow Island), the Park's headquarters and site of several guesthouses. The highest peak, at 400 meters, offers scenic views of the archipelago. Another, nearby limestone hill, 200 meters high, leads to Tham Buabok cave - physically a more demanding climb, though worth the effort. The cave's name translates to "waving lotus," derived from the stalactite and stalagmite formations resembling lotuses.

EXCURSION DESTINATIONS
While staying in Koh Samui there are a wide variety of activities and destinations to discover. There are several other neighboring islands and archipelagos for you to explore that are not to be missed. There include Koh Tao, Koh Pha Ngan and the Angthong National Park. Following we have a brief description of each destination to help you decide where you would like to explore first.
Koh Samui
Samui Island is a rare gem, preserving the idyllic simplicity of a tropical hideaway. It is characterized by beaches of powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters. Here you can delight in a latter-day Robinson Crusoe experience in comfort. The island, Thailand's third largest, measuring 21 kilometers at its widest point and 25 kilometers in maximum length, is one of a group of more than 80 tropical islands, only a few of which are inhabited. A mountain ridge runs east to west and most of the hinterland comprises forested hills. The rich hues of wild vegetation are dappled throughout with the contrasting greens of coconut palms and emerald paddy fields.
